In Pre-K, we focus on building strong foundations in early academics, social and emotional skills, and a love for learning through play, exploration, and hands-on activities. Daryn Johnston - Director

Pre-K Director - Ms. Daryn Johnson

I'm a proud native of our community and thrilled to be in my 7th year at JA. When I'm not at school, you'll usually find me exploring the outdoors or heading out on an adventure with my dog. I consider myself a "hobby jumper" - I'm always trying out something new, whether it's a craft, activity, or project. I'm so excited to be a part of preschool, and I feel honored to contribute to such a nurturing and inspiring environment!

Mrs. Laura Shipp

Pre-K Teacher - Mrs. Laura Shipp

She grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and earned her undergraduate degree from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) before moving to Colorado to specialize in early childhood education. She strongly advocates that children learn best through play and interactive, hands-on activities to exceed early childhood development standards. She holds a specialized Montessori teaching license and has extensive experience teaching children in the 3-to-6 age group. When not in school, I love spending time with my family, reading books, and going on runs. Mrs. Shipp begins her first year at JAE and is very excited to be a part of this amazing community.

Ms. Taro Yochim

Pre-K TA - Mrs Tari Yochim

I enjoy spending time outdoors hiking and playing at parks with my daughter. I love to cheer on my daughter at gymnastics meets and soccer games. When I am not outside I love to read, craft and sew. My favorite food is Italian and my least favorite food is chocolate. I am looking forward to a fun year of helping your Pre-K students learn and grow through fun and educational hands-on activities.
