REMINDER: MANDATORY GRADUATION MEETING FOR ALL SENIORS AND PARENTS
Attention all seniors and parents, April 15th, at 6:00 pm in the Auditorium is the mandatory graduation meeting for the class of 2026. All seniors and at least one parent are expected to attend. We will discuss all the details of graduation, including tickets and hand out yard signs.
ASSESSMENT-ALTERNATE SCHEDULES-APRIL 14, 15 & 16
Thank you for participating in our state testing. We appreciate the opportunity to not only see the growth of your child but to use this information to make sure that our curriculum continues to be aligned to state standards. We value our students taking each assessment seriously so that we know details of their continued development and growth.
It’s testing week this week! Please read the accurate school and testing schedule below (apologies for the error on our social media post on Sunday).
Due to testing requirements and staff needed to proctor and monitor each assessment, we do not have school for students who are not involved in testing and when testing is complete each day, students are dismissed and should leave campus.
Here is the schedule for the week of April 13th:
● Tuesday, April 14- CMAS ELA Test for 7th & 8th Grade
○ 8:30 am -1:30 pm (no school lunch provided–please bring sack lunch)
○ NO SCHOOL for Students in High School Grades 9-12
● Wednesday, April 15-SAT TEST for 11th Grade & CMAS Science Test for 8th Grade
○ 8:30 am -11:45 am SAT (2 hr & 14 min test-depending on time started)
○ 8:30 am-12:30 pm CMAS 8 Science
○ NO SCHOOL for Students in 7th, 9th, 10th, & 12th Grade
● Thursday, April 16- PSAT Test for 9th Grade & PSAT Test for 10th Grade
○ 8:30 am 11:45am (2 hr & 14 min test-depending on time started)
○ NO SCHOOL for Students in 7th, 8th, 12th Grades.
○ 11th Grade will be testing in the afternoon only.
● Thursday, April 16-CMAS Science Test for 11th Grade
○ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
○ 11th Grade students will test in the afternoon only
Also, please note–the ending times for these tests are approximate. Each test has a specific testing window and depending on the time the class starts to test, students are required to remain in the testing room until the time is complete. STUDENT FEES: With the 4th quarter starting, now is a good time to check for any fees still on your student’s account. Any refunds can be credited back to your card in-person with Mr. Melville in the main office. Seniors, all fees will be due by May 8th to checkout.
IMMUNIZATION UPDATE: Colorado law requires students attending school to be vaccinated against many diseases, unless a certificate of exemption is filed. 2026 JAGUAR WARRIOR NIGHT: Come join us for our 2nd Annual Jaguar Warrior night on Wednesday, April 22nd at 5:30 pm at the secondary to celebrate the school year and all the good that has been accomplished as we approach summer. Sponsored by the Jaguar Warrior Club and Science National Honor Society, the Jaguar Warrior Night is a night filled with fun for all ages, with a photo booth, concessions, bake sale, open gym, face painting and more followed by our guest speaker Dave Johnson, president and CEO of the Katie Adamson Foundation, who we have partnered with to help save Jaguars worldwide. Mr. Kirkley and Mr. Everett have both agreed to show off their shiny heads in a new bedazzled fashion that you are welcome to come decorate. That's right, come bedazzle our heads for a good cause! All money raised for this event will go directly to Jaguar conservation worldwide. Come help us celebrate another successful year and save Jaguars all in the same evening. 8TH GRADE A& HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS: Join us for an unforgettable educational tour through Peru in 2027! ATTENTION SENIORS: We congratulate you on your upcoming graduation---a very exciting milestone for you and your family! On behalf of the Jefferson Academy Boosters Club, we would like to invite you to participate in the Boosters Scholarship Program.

Eligibility criteria:
· Currently a Senior graduating from Jefferson Academy Secondary School in 2026.
· Carrying no less than a 2.5 GPA (unweighted).
· Enrolling as a full-time student at an accredited two- or four-year college, university, vocational or technical school no later than the Fall term of 2026. Seniors, check your email for the application! It arrived on March 21.

GENERATION TEACH IS HOSTING SUMMER EXPERIENCES FOR STUDENTS:
Current K-7th Grade Students and Families: Enroll in the Generation Teach STEAM Academy. The GT STEAM Academy (GTSA) is a free 5-week summer academic and enrichment program for elementary and middle school students. GTSA introduces students to engineering and law, accelerates math and reading skills, and provides enrichment classes (games, team sports, fitness & movement, and art). Free breakfast and lunch are served daily. Fun Fridays feature field trips, team competitions, and/or games. Current High School Juniors through Undergraduate Seniors: Apply to the Generation Teach Summer Teaching Fellowship. The fellowship includes a dynamic summer of learning, teaching, and creating community. Fellows receive a $3,000 taxable cash scholarship and over 275 hours of teaching and leadership experience. ROTARY YOUTH LEADERSHIP AWARDS: RYLA - We are looking for current 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students that would benefit from Leadership and Teamwork Training. What is RYLA? RYLA stands for Rotary Youth Leadership Awards. For over 35 years, Rotary has sponsored a 5-day leadership conference. We are proud that we are positively impacting the lives of more than 500 students every summer, AND Rotary covers the cost.

STANFORD AI and SOCIAL GOOD PROGRAM: Inspirit AI pairs grades 6–12 students with Stanford and MIT researchers to build original AI projects such as AI-powered food insecurity mapping and modeling for mental health intervention. Students publish their research in academic journals and compete at competitions like Regeneron ISEF. Applications close April 30.
STUDENT CLASS SCHEDULES 2026-2027: ALL students have now received information via email for creating their class schedules for 2026-2027. Students MUST schedule an appointment with Ms. LeValley (current 9th-11th graders) or Ms. Adams (current 8th graders). Counselors meet with every student to create their class schedule.
YOUTH FOUNDERS LAB SUMMER ENTREPRENEURSHIP PROGRAM: The Young Founders Lab Summer Entrepreneurship Program is now accepting applications. During the program, students work with startup founders and MBA mentors while building their own venture or non-profit. Group program deadlines are coming up on April 15th. Students interested in business and entrepreneurship can apply here.

Who can participate: All male students who will be in the 7th or 8th grade next year at Jefferson Academy Secondary

Where: Jefferson Academy Secondary Main Gym
What: Mandatory sign up for any student wanting to try out for the junior high boys basketball team. The deadline to sign up is Monday, April 27th at 12:00pm. Registration will be closed at this time. You must fill out this form if you are planning on attending tryouts.
Junior High Girls Volleyball Tryouts
Who can participate: All female students who will be in the 7th or 8th grade next year at Jefferson Academy Secondary
Date: Wednesday, April 29 & Thursday, April 30th

8th GRADE ATHLETIC PARENT/PLAYER MEETING: We will be hosting a virtual player/parent meeting for current 8th graders who are interested in playing sports in high school. The meeting will take place on April 22nd at 6:00 PM via Google Meets.
