Dear Jefferson Academy Charter Schools Families,
Our school community thrives because of engaged and dedicated parents like you! Between Monday, May 4, 2026, and Tuesday, May 11, 2026, the JACS community will be voting to fill two Board of Directors seats that open in June 2026. This is an opportunity for you to step forward and help shape the future of Jefferson Academy Charter Schools.
Why Serve on the JACS Board?
Charter schools are unique because they are family-governed, meaning parents and guardians play a crucial role in ensuring student success. As a JACS Board member, you will set policies, provide guidance, and uphold the school’s mission and vision—all while making a meaningful impact on our children’s education. Board members serve a three-year term (through June 2029) and work together to keep JACS a strong, student-centered school.
Who Can Run?
Parents/guardians from ALL JACS campuses, including Summit Academy, are eligible! We encourage all interested parents to apply, regardless of experience. However, we are especially looking for individuals with backgrounds in legal, leadership, facilities, fundraising, and project management. Even if you don’t have experience in these areas, we welcome your application—your dedication and unique perspective are what truly matter!
What Are the Requirements?
To be a JA Board candidate, you must:
Read E.D. Hirsch’s books Cultural Literacy and The Schools We Need and Why We Don’t Have Them , and agree with the principles.
Become familiar with the Core Knowledge Scope and Sequence.
Support JA’s educational philosophy, discipline policy, and administrative structure.
Sign the Board Manual upon election (available in school offices for review).
Serve on one or more board committees.
