Board’s Top 5

January 2025
The JA Board of Directors last met on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.
While many items were discussed, the Board wanted to share the following:

1. Celebrating the Impact of Our Community Cares Program
The Board reviewed the final results of the 6th Annual Holiday Care Package program, which saw a remarkable 60% increase in families served compared to last year. This year, the program supported 64 families, providing essentials and gifts for 122 adults and 161 children across all Jefferson Academy and Summit campuses. Thanks to the incredible generosity of over 144 donors, we reached a new milestone of $54,240 in total donations—a 508% increase since the program’s inception in 2020. Beyond toys and clothing, these funds provided critical relief for families by covering car repairs, utility bills, and medical payments. We are deeply moved by the outpouring of support from our PTO, Boosters, and Foundation, whose contributions helped ensure that every family in need felt the strength and care of the JA community this holiday season. 2. Two-Year Calendars Approved
The academic calendars for the 2026–27 and 2027–28 school years have been finalized and approved. Our admin teams intentionally aligned the three JA calendars as closely as possible to create greater consistency from year-to-year and campus-to-campus. This will make it easier for families to plan ahead while supporting better long-term planning for our community. Calendars for our Summit programs continue being campus specific. Your campus website will post the 2-year calendars for your convenience. All calendars are also posted on the organization website here.

3. Graduation Rates Remain High
Jeffco Public Schools has recognized both Summit Academy and Jefferson Academy Secondary for exceptional graduation outcomes. Summit Academy—across the Westminster and South campuses—achieved a 100% graduation rate in 2025, while Jefferson Academy Secondary earned a 98% graduation rate, placing it among just ten schools in the district with rates of 95% or higher. These results reflect the dedication of our students, families, and staff, and our shared commitment to academic excellence and student support.

4. Save the Date - Meet the Executive Director Candidates
In our quest to hire the next great Executive Director, we will invite the candidate finalists to meet with stakeholders in a forum setting on March 9th. This will allow everyone to interact as a community with the finalists prior to the Board’s hiring decision mid-March. We invite you to come with your questions and enthusiasm to share what makes our charter schools special. Time and location will be set soon, so save the date!

5. Campus-Specific SAC Surveys Launching Soon
In the coming weeks, our School Accountability Committee (SAC) will be distributing annual surveys to all parents. To ensure we are capturing the unique strengths and needs of each community, we are introducing campus-specific surveys this year. This approach will allow the Board and school administration to more accurately evaluate each specific program and campus environment. These surveys provide the critical data we need to continuously improve our programs for the benefit of our students and families, and we highly value your honest feedback as we plan for the future.
