1. Our next Executive Director - Dr. Ann Schultz!
We are pleased to share that Dr. Ann Schultz has been appointed as the next Executive Director of Jefferson Academy Charter Schools after a comprehensive selection process. We are confident she brings a strong track record of leadership, a clear and thoughtful vision for the future, and a deep commitment to academic excellence, student growth, and a positive school culture that supports both students and staff. Please join us in welcoming Dr. Schultz!
2. School Accountability Survey Findings
At the March meeting, the Board of Directors was presented with the findings from the school accountability survey, which provided valuable insight into the experiences and perspectives of our students, families, and staff. The results highlighted both areas of strength to celebrate and opportunities for continued growth, helping guide our ongoing efforts to support student achievement, strengthen school culture, and enhance communication across our community. We appreciate everyone who took the time to share feedback, as it plays an important role in shaping our priorities and decisions moving forward. You can view the presentations of findings here.
In April, our principals will share specific action items developed in response to the key areas identified in the survey. If you’re interested in seeing changes made in past years based on survey feedback, you can view that list here.
3. Cultivating the Next Generation of Educators
The Board enjoyed an inspiring presentation from Mr. Brendon Feddema, Principal of Jefferson Academy Elementary, regarding our thriving student-teacher programs. We are currently partnered with the University of Northern Colorado and Colorado Christian University to provide aspiring teachers with vital, hands-on classroom experience. We are also welcoming JA Secondary students who have expressed an interest in education to assist in our elementary classrooms. These programs offer immense value to the student teachers, but the true winners are our elementary students, who benefit from the extra support and mentorship. We were delighted to hear directly from several of these student teachers during our meeting and were deeply impressed by their energy, enthusiasm, and commitment to the JA community.
4. Investing in Our Talented Team
The Board is proud to announce the approval of a 2.5% salary increase for all staff for the 2026-2027 school year. Although district-level funding remains somewhat uncertain, the Board remains committed to our "Talented Team" strategic pillar. Our teachers and staff are the foundation of everything we achieve at Jefferson Academy. By prioritizing this investment now, we aim to provide stability and appreciation for the dedicated professionals who care for our students every day, ensuring JA remains an amazing place to work and learn.
5. Come join the Board!
JACS is now accepting candidates for two open Board seats, each serving a three-year term that begins in July. High-quality public charter schools like JACS give families choice while operating with both autonomy and accountability — but that model depends on strong, parent-led governance. Our seven-member Board brings diverse skillsets and perspectives to guide the school and ensure its continued success. It’s one of the most meaningful ways to get involved and help keep JA strong for the future. Submit your Letter of intent by April 21 to jlillyblade@jajags.com.
